From 761d8685001ca965e103bafdbbb7012e84cbe5b7 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: tb Date: Tue, 4 Jan 2022 20:17:07 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] Add a length check to make_addressPrefix() Make the callers pass in the afi so that make_addressPrefix() can check prefixlen to be reasonable. If the afi is anything else than IPv4 or IPv6, cap its length at the length needed for IPv6. This way we avoid arbitrary out-of-bounds reads if the caller decides to pass in something stupid. ok inoguchi jsing --- lib/libcrypto/x509/x509_addr.c | 37 +++++++++++++++++++++++----------- 1 file changed, 25 insertions(+), 12 deletions(-) diff --git a/lib/libcrypto/x509/x509_addr.c b/lib/libcrypto/x509/x509_addr.c index a3d5ec74ece..fdb2f64fd26 100644 --- a/lib/libcrypto/x509/x509_addr.c +++ b/lib/libcrypto/x509/x509_addr.c @@ -1,4 +1,4 @@ -/* $OpenBSD: x509_addr.c,v 1.51 2022/01/04 20:04:38 tb Exp $ */ +/* $OpenBSD: x509_addr.c,v 1.52 2022/01/04 20:17:07 tb Exp $ */ /* * Contributed to the OpenSSL Project by the American Registry for * Internet Numbers ("ARIN"). @@ -802,18 +802,32 @@ range_should_be_prefix(const unsigned char *min, const unsigned char *max, */ static int make_addressPrefix(IPAddressOrRange **result, unsigned char *addr, - const int prefixlen) + unsigned int afi, int prefixlen) { - int bytelen = (prefixlen + 7) / 8, bitlen = prefixlen % 8; - IPAddressOrRange *aor = IPAddressOrRange_new(); + IPAddressOrRange *aor; + int afi_length, bytelen, bitlen, max_length; + + if (prefixlen < 0) + return 0; + + max_length = 16; + if ((afi_length = length_from_afi(afi)) > 0) + max_length = afi_length; + if (prefixlen > 8 * max_length) + return 0; - if (aor == NULL) + bytelen = (prefixlen + 7) / 8; + bitlen = prefixlen % 8; + + if ((aor = IPAddressOrRange_new()) == NULL) return 0; aor->type = IPAddressOrRange_addressPrefix; if ((aor->u.addressPrefix = ASN1_BIT_STRING_new()) == NULL) goto err; + if (!ASN1_BIT_STRING_set(aor->u.addressPrefix, addr, bytelen)) goto err; + aor->u.addressPrefix->flags &= ~7; aor->u.addressPrefix->flags |= ASN1_STRING_FLAG_BITS_LEFT; if (bitlen > 0) { @@ -836,13 +850,13 @@ make_addressPrefix(IPAddressOrRange **result, unsigned char *addr, */ static int make_addressRange(IPAddressOrRange **result, unsigned char *min, - unsigned char *max, const int length) + unsigned char *max, unsigned int afi, int length) { IPAddressOrRange *aor; int i, prefixlen; if ((prefixlen = range_should_be_prefix(min, max, length)) >= 0) - return make_addressPrefix(result, min, prefixlen); + return make_addressPrefix(result, min, afi, prefixlen); if ((aor = IPAddressOrRange_new()) == NULL) return 0; @@ -1005,12 +1019,10 @@ X509v3_addr_add_prefix(IPAddrBlocks *addr, const unsigned afi, IPAddressOrRanges *aors; IPAddressOrRange *aor; - /* XXX - check prefixlen */ - if ((aors = make_prefix_or_range(addr, afi, safi)) == NULL) return 0; - if (!make_addressPrefix(&aor, a, prefixlen)) + if (!make_addressPrefix(&aor, a, afi, prefixlen)) return 0; if (sk_IPAddressOrRange_push(aors, aor) <= 0) { @@ -1037,7 +1049,7 @@ X509v3_addr_add_range(IPAddrBlocks *addr, const unsigned afi, length = length_from_afi(afi); - if (!make_addressRange(&aor, min, max, length)) + if (!make_addressRange(&aor, min, max, afi, length)) return 0; if (sk_IPAddressOrRange_push(aors, aor) <= 0) { @@ -1284,7 +1296,8 @@ IPAddressOrRanges_canonize(IPAddressOrRanges *aors, const unsigned afi) continue; if (memcmp(a_max, b_min, length) == 0) { IPAddressOrRange *merged; - if (!make_addressRange(&merged, a_min, b_max, length)) + if (!make_addressRange(&merged, a_min, b_max, afi, + length)) return 0; (void)sk_IPAddressOrRange_set(aors, i, merged); (void)sk_IPAddressOrRange_delete(aors, i + 1); -- 2.20.1
