Subject: [PATCH] the beginning of removing more details from this page, since
 we now have a separate more(1): it's a big page so i'm doing it in bits.

in this commit, remove more stuff from SYNOPSIS, remove some cleverness
from SYNOPSIS, and use consistent argument names;
